Chapter 5: The Sound of Silence

The Sound of Silence (Rests)

“Music is the space between the notes.” — Claude Debussy

For every symbol that tells you to make sound, there is a matching symbol that tells you to be silent. These are called Rests. You must count them just as strictly as the notes.
